You did it!
The Malthouse is a historic building, with a proud place in both the industrial and arts communities of Christchurch. It is beautiful. It is quirky. It is filled with precious memories and irreplaceable artefacts.
And it was leaking. The rain was getting in. It was not just causing discomfort to the staff, students, casts, customers, and audiences that regularly frequent the building, but also damaging the interior and the hundreds of costumes and props stored onsite.
As you can see, it was in a very sorry state…

The ask
After generous grants from The Lotteries Heritage fund and the CCC Heritage Fund we still had a significant shortfall to make up and we turned to you, the businesses and members of the community to help. And you turned out in spades. It wasn’t long before work began.

The roof is now fully restored, and looking like it will last another 100 years, all thanks to your generosity. A full list of donors will be available soon!
